Originating in Boston, Massachusetts, A Loss for Words echo the path of fellow New England outfit Four Year Strong by producing propulsive pop-punk rooted in the Beantown scene. The lineup features vocalist Matt Arsenault alongside guitarists Nevada Smith and Marc Dangora, bassist Mike Adams, and drummer Jack McHugh. Their music fuses pop-punk with melodic hardcore, resulting in a high-energy, guitar-driven approach anchored by strong melodic hooks. Following several EPs, the group issued its debut full-length album, The Kids Can’t Lose, in 2009. The next year brought Motown Classics, a collection of punk renditions of well-known tracks including the Temptations’ “My Girl” and Smokey Robinson’s “Tears of a Clown.” Throughout this period the musicians built a reputation as relentless road warriors, logging dates across the United States, Canada, the U.K., and Europe, and even organizing their own independent D.I.Y. trek through Japan. Their 2011 release, No Sanctuary, earned the band its first Billboard Heatseekers chart placement in recognition of their sustained efforts.
