AREA21’s first full-length release, Greatest Hits Vol. 1, was conceived, shaped, and realized entirely by the project’s originators—the widely respected DJ and producer Martin Garrix, whose résumé includes work with Bono, G-Eazy, Dua Lipa, and Khalid, alongside the producer, songwriter, and recording artist Major, known for his contributions to Justin Bieber. The record traces the cosmic exploits of the duo’s extraterrestrial personas, M&M, as they broadcast an interplanetary call for togetherness through sound. Its dozen songs confront some of existence’s most profound inquiries and recast them as emotionally resonant, intellectually stimulating tracks, complemented by a sequence of striking animated visuals crafted by the acclaimed Titmouse, Inc., whose credits encompass projects for Dua Lipa and Run the Jewels.
