Biography
The moniker Auryn draws inspiration from the enchanted amulet featured in The Neverending Story, identifying this quintet of Spanish performers renowned primarily through ties to the Eurovision Song Contest. Originating in 2010, the ensemble came together after teen pop singer Blas Canto, initially pursuing a solo project, joined forces with Dani Fernandez—a prior Spanish representative at the 2006 Junior Eurovision—alongside Carlos Marco, Alvaro Gango, and David Lafuente. In the following year, the group advanced to the concluding round of Destino Eurovision, the selection process for Spain's Eurovision entrant, ultimately finishing behind Galician pop singer Lucía Pérez. Capitalizing on the digital summit achieved by their opening track "Breathe in the Light," they provided support for the Wanted during the Madrid stop of its European itinerary and issued their debut full-length effort, the bilingual Endless Road 7058, toward the close of 2011. In 2013, Anti-Heroes emerged as their sophomore album, claiming the peak position on Spanish rankings. The band's next studio album, Circus Avenue, similarly ascended to the top of the charts, as did its inaugural single "Puppeteer," marking the first occasion their material appeared entirely in English. Fully committing to this linguistic direction by 2015, they unveiled Ghost Town, incorporating a contribution from pop diva Anastacia on the track "Who's Loving You?"
