Biography
Newark native Bandmanrill carved out a distinctive lane by fusing Jersey club rhythms with New York drill energy in partnership with producer MCVertt, rapidly emerging as one of the city’s most exciting new rap talents.
He first appeared in 2020 via the Auto-Tune-laden single “Fight Back,” navigating the era’s pitch-corrected soundscape with early releases that alternated between wailing trap numbers such as “NA NA,” “Party,” and “Preach” and N.Y.C.-style drill cuts like “$outh Recap.” A brief excursion into Detroit-inspired territory followed on “Strag Story,” yet his true breakthrough arrived in early 2021 with the MCVertt-produced “Heartbroken,” which reimagined local flavors by merging drill vocal cadences with Jersey club’s signature remix techniques, sample manipulation, and brisk tempos. Once the track eclipsed a million streams online, the duo sustained momentum through further singles: “Bullet” reworked an unreleased Playboi Carti recording titled “Kid Cudi,” “MR. DONTCUFFTHAT” layered rapid-fire edits over the radio staple “Sucker for Pain,” and “I Am Newark” reworked Madcon’s enduring hit “Begging.”
Warner Records signed Bandmanrill in 2022, initiating his debut-mixtape campaign with the drill-centric “Copy and Paste.” Additional tracks, among them the intense “Influence,” preceded the arrival of his first full project, the 13-song Club Godfather, a high-energy showcase of the Jersey club–rap hybrids he had originated.
