Born on March 5, 1974, in Munich to clarinet player Hans Schöneberger, German television host and actress Barbara Schöneberger grew up in the Bavarian capital. Following her high-school graduation, she enrolled at the University of Augsburg to pursue sociology, art history, and communication studies while simultaneously taking a position at a Munich agency. Her initial foray onto the small screen came via a guest appearance in the series Café Meineid, an opportunity that soon led to further television roles. In 1999 she abandoned her academic path to devote herself entirely to broadcasting, fronting programs that included TieBreak, Weck Up, Girlscamp, Blondes Gift, and Die Schöneberger-Show and making additional guest appearances across various formats. She also took on acting assignments in multiple television films and stage productions. Music entered her portfolio in 2006 when she performed with the Capital Dance Orchestra for the production Stars Go Swing. The following year she toured with the Berlin Pops Orchestra as its featured vocalist and issued her debut album, Jetzt singt sie auch noch!, in November 2007. Blending jazz and pop, the record contained new material written by the team of Frank Ramond and Matthias Hass—previously known for their work with Annett Louisan—alongside reinterpretations of classic standards such as “The Lady Is a Tramp” and Cole Porter’s “Let’s Do It, Let’s Fall In Love.”
