Biography
Drawing upon Seattle's longstanding legacy in alternative guitar sounds, Big Bite gained initial recognition through the arrival of their self-titled debut full-length during 2018. The quartet assembled in 2014 with Matt Berry on vocals and guitar, Graham Baker handling guitar, Erica Miller on bass, and Allen Trainer behind the drums. Before forming the group, each participant had already participated in the broader West Coast music community via prior projects such as Versing, Happy Diving, and Casual Hex. Beyond local touchstones, the band incorporated shoegaze textures modeled on My Bloody Valentine and Swervedriver, marked by swirling guitar lines and hushed, buried vocals. A 2014 demo preceded their debut single, 2015's "I Don't Think So," with two tour tapes emerging in 2016 and 2017. The self-titled album then appeared on Pop Wig in 2018, the same year the group toured alongside Nothing and Swirlies while staging numerous headline performances. The next year found them back in the studio with Jack Shirley of Deafheaven and Jeff Rosenstock renown to capture their follow-up record. Trinity surfaced near the close of 2019, after which the band launched a headline U.S. tour.
