The country trio Carter's Chord unites the Robertson sisters—singer/songwriters Becky, Emma, and Joanna—whose sisterly harmonies, striking appearance, and deeply musical upbringing shape their sound. Raised in Southern California by Barny and Carter Robertson, both former Waylors who had toured with Waylon Jennings, the siblings grew up surrounded by country and Christian recordings that filled the family home. That atmosphere soon inspired them to mount living-room concerts, charging twenty-five cents at the door and offering refreshments between acts. Their first major-label exposure arrived when Jennings recruited the girls to sing on Cowboys, Sisters, Rascals & Dirt, the children’s country album produced by their father.

The family later settled in Nashville, where their residence regularly welcomed distinguished guests ranging from the Jennings family—Jessi Colter and Shooter Jennings among them—to members of the Crickets. Those surroundings sharpened the sisters’ three-part harmonies and songwriting craft until country artist Toby Keith took notice. After a strong showcase at a Nashville club on Valentine’s Day 2006, Keith signed the trio, who chose the name Carter’s Chord to signify a musical triad. Now on the Show Dog Nashville roster, they recorded their self-titled debut album with Keith and Barny Robertson sharing production duties. Lead single “Young Love” reached country radio in October 2007, and the full-length album appeared the following year. The six-song EP Wild Together arrived in 2011.
