Chelley

Born in 1994 and raised in Brooklyn’s Crown Heights neighborhood, singer Chelley made her initial appearance in 2009 via the breakout single “Took the Night,” a brash and powerful club banger. The track spread rapidly online, prompting an immediate contract with Ultra Music. While still a teenager, Chelley issued several modest follow-up singles, yet several years passed before her next major release, the Ricky Blaze-produced “Take Ya Money,” which steered her R&B/hip-hop hybrid toward a stronger reggae influence. That island-pop direction persisted on the 2017 single “Love Sick,” released as she prepared a debut EP targeted for late in the year.
