Chimo! arose from the remnants of several 1960s Canadian groups, among them Georgian IV and Bossmen. Its original roster featured lead vocalist Breen LeBoeuf, guitarist Jack Mowbray, bassist Stewart McCann, pianist Tony Collacutt, organist Ross Raby, and drummer Rick King. After several departures, bassist John Johnson along with drummers Pat Little and Andy Cree joined to fill the vacancies.

The short-lived ensemble cut its first single, “Quicksilver Woman,” for Revolver Records in 1970, followed later that year by “Silken Silver Melody.” In 1971 the group completed a self-titled debut album plus a two-sided single; Epic then issued the LP, allowing it to reach American listeners.

Internal friction soon surfaced, and both Raby and Johnson left shortly after the album appeared. Pacemaker Records eventually reissued the sole collection the band had recorded, doing so in 1995.
