Cristina Lliso

Cristina Lliso first gained notice as the lead vocalist of Esclarecidos, a group tied to the Movida Madrileña scene that flourished during the 1980s and counted her husband Alfonso Pérez among its members along with producer Suso Saiz. Although the band never reached widespread commercial success, it earned substantial critical praise, and Lliso was widely regarded as one of the era’s standout female singers. Following the release of seven studio albums, Esclarecidos disbanded in 1997. Lliso then joined Pérez and Saiz in forming the electronic outfit Lliso, which folded after issuing a single album and an EP that attracted little attention. Fourteen years later, she ended a self-imposed retirement by delivering her debut solo effort, the predominantly acoustic Si Alguna Vez, in 2012.
