Originating from New Haven, Connecticut, the enduring metal outfit Dead by Wednesday cultivated an audience via extensive roadwork and steadfast commitment to their craft. Despite numerous personnel shifts throughout their progression, the group coalesced into a compact and intensely concentrated metal force centered on the creative direction of its foundational members. Their sonic palette extended from aggressive metalcore assaults to sporadic acoustic ballads featured on the self-titled record issued in 2019.

The ensemble came together in 2005, established by drummer Opus alongside bassist Mike Modeste, guitarist Patrick Garcia, and vocalists David Ramos and Ceschi Ramos performing as a duo. This configuration produced the inaugural full-length Democracy Is Dead that same year, blending classic thrash metal elements with old-school hardcore and incorporating instances of rhythmic spoken-word delivery. Following a comparable trajectory, The Killing Project arrived in 2008. However, the third full-length effort The Last Parade from 2011 benefited from enhanced studio quality and featured a revised roster. Joe Morbidelli assumed vocal duties in place of the Ramos siblings for this release, after which the group maintained a relentless touring schedule that included support slots alongside Flotsam & Jetsam and Shadows Fall. Subsequent to the 2014 EP Death of the Rockstar, Morbidelli departed. Darkest of Angels, the fourth album, emerged in 2016 with only Opus and Modeste as remaining originals; guitarist Joey Concepcion completed the core, and compositions were crafted for fourteen distinct guest singers. Returning collaborators David and Ceschi Ramos participated, as did Fates Warning's John Arch, Shadows Fall's Brian Fair, ex-Mushroomhead vocalist Waylon Reavis, and additional contributors. One participant, Rob Roy, integrated permanently as the frontman following his effective contribution to the somber acoustic piece "The Surgeon." Dave Sharpe entered as a fixed guitarist in 2018. The four-piece then crafted their self-titled collection, representing their most varied output thus far, which Combat Records put out during April 2019.
