Emerging from viral social media traction onto Billboard rankings, Dixie unveiled her occasionally conflicted yet anthemic pop sound via the 2020 track "Be Happy." After accumulating tens of millions of streams, the song built an audience that propelled later joint releases such as that year's "One Whole Day" featuring Wiz Khalifa and 2021's "Psycho" featuring Rubi Rose, along with standalone tracks like the 2021 single "The Real Thing."

Inspired by the thriving online presence of her younger sister Charli, the Norwalk, Connecticut native Dixie D'Amelio rose to become one of the ten most-followed video accounts across the U.S. and entered the client list of a prominent talent agency during 2019. She soon inked a deal with the Hitco label and issued her first single, "Be Happy," in June 2020. The release reached number 34 on the Irish charts and claimed the top spot on Billboard's Top Triller U.S. ranking, which tracks social media clips built around a given song. She next delivered "Naughty List," a seasonal duet with singer/songwriter Liam Payne that again led the same Billboard chart while also entering the Top 50 in both the U.K. and Ireland. By year's close she had also put out "One Whole Day" featuring Wiz Khalifa and the solo cut "Roommates."

Shedding her surname, Dixie opened 2021 with "FUCKBOY," her third number one on the Top Triller U.S. tally. July brought "Psycho" featuring rapper Rubi Rose, and October saw the solo release "The Real Thing."
