DropOut

Hailing from California, the DJ/production duo Dropout craft polished, groove-driven pop laced with laid-back electronica. The project first took shape as a trio in Santa Barbara during 2014, comprising drummer/programmer/instrumentalist Ethan Davis, singer/programmer/instrumentalist Ray Nowak, and programmer/instrumentalist Selden Cummings. Online notice arrived in 2015 when the anonymous upload of “Slowly” spread rapidly and generated early curiosity around the act. Cummings soon exited, leaving the remaining members to continue as a duo that issued tracks including “More,” “My Muse,” and “Strong” featuring Wesley Finn Tucker. March 2017 brought the Handcrafted EP on the Armada Trice label. That spring the pair followed with the single “Paycheck,” a collaboration with the Ready Set, along with their stylized cover of the Zombies’ “Time of the Season.”
