Born Eduardo Mosquera on March 16, 1985, in Panama City, Panama, Eddy Lover is a Panamanian reggae singer whose guest appearance on La Factoría's 2006 smash hit "Perdóname" brought him international recognition. Observers often liken him to Flex (aka Nigga), another Panamanian reggae singer who scored a massive hit in 2008 with "Te Quiero." The two stand as leading examples of the emerging Panamanian reggae style (aka reggae panameño), a tropical-inflected variant of reggaetón typically delivered in a romantic register. First featured on the La Factoría album Nuevas Metas (2006), "Perdóname" enjoyed strong popularity throughout 2007, above all in the Caribbean region, and Eddy Lover's memorable guest turn on the track earned him a major-label solo recording contract with Universal Latino's urban division, Machete Music. His full-length solo debut, Perdóname (2008), contained the title track as well as the hit singles "Luna" and "No Debiste Volver."
