Juno-nominated Canadian pop act Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine first drew attention through their engaging songcraft, Jamie Fine’s intense and deeply felt vocals, and Elijah Woods’ sharply defined production style, qualities that shone through on early singles “Ain't Easy” and “Want You Back” as well as the 2019 EP 8:47.
Producer Elijah Woods and singer-songwriter Jamie Fine began working together after they met at Algonquin College in Ottawa in 2014. Their win on the second episode of the competition series The Launch in January 2018 led directly to the recording and release of “Ain't Easy,” a track written by Ryan Tedder of OneRepublic, Camila Cabello, and Zach Skelton, then rearranged by Woods and Fine with Tedder serving as producer. The single entered the Top 40 of the Canadian Hot 100 that April and later brought the duo a 2019 SOCAN Pop Music Award. They reappeared on the Hot 100 in November 2018 with “Better Off,” which peaked at number 69; both songs appeared on their debut EP 8:47, released by Big Machine Records/Universal Music Canada in March 2019. After receiving Juno Award nominations for Group of the Year and Pop Album of the Year, Elijah Woods x Jamie Fine issued the single “Want You Back” in March 2020.
