Dallas rapper Erica Banks projects bold assurance and swagger when she tackles stripped-down trap instrumentals with an array of commanding deliveries. Prior to inking a deal with 1501 Certified Entertainment, she issued independent material such as the 2019 project The Art of the Hustle. Her breakout arrived via the 2020 single "Buss It," featured on her self-titled mixtape, after which she maintained momentum with releases including the 2022 album Diary of the Flow Queen.

Raised beyond the city limits of Dallas, Texas, Banks developed an affinity for poetry during her formative years. While enrolled in college to finish a nursing curriculum, she redirected her ambitions toward a recording career. Converting her longstanding poetic pursuits into rap, she started composing original material around 2018. Initial tracks such as "Thousand" and "NO Hook" paved the way for the 2019 EP The Art of the Hustle, alongside the independently dropped mixtapes Pressure and Cocky on Purpose that same year. Regional attention in Texas prompted her 2020 signing to 1501 Certified Entertainment. Serving as her debut single for the imprint, the club-oriented "Buss It" appeared on the self-titled mixtape issued in June 2020. The track gained further traction in 2021 when Travis Scott contributed to a remix, amplifying exposure for both the song and Banks. Throughout the ensuing period she issued numerous standalone cuts and featured on fellow artists’ records, delivering 2022 singles such as "Slim Waist," "Pop Out," and "Throw a Lil Mo (Do It)" before unveiling the studio album Diary of the Flow Queen that June. New output continued in 2023 with tracks including "Real Rap B**** (Poppin It)" and the Splash Rob collaboration "Bad Bitch Alert."
