Atlanta rapper Bktherula maintains a shape-shifting approach that moves between high-energy trap declarations and inward-looking, atmospheric work, showcased on the 2020 mixtape Nirvana as well as the 2024 set Lvl5 P2, which alternates R&B-inflected passages with trap-driven sections. Brooklyn Rodriguez first posted pop and R&B material to SoundCloud under the handle BK in 2017 at age 15. After pivoting to rap she drew notice with 2018 tracks such as “Faygo,” released under the alias BK BK. Once she adopted the Bktherula name, stronger traction arrived in 2019 through “Left Right” and the song she called a love song, “Tweakin’ Together.” Early 2020 brought her debut mixtape Love Santana. She soon signed with Warner Records and issued her follow-up mixtape Nirvana before the year ended. The full-length studio album Love Black appeared in 2021, after which she dropped collaborative singles with Rico Nasty and Ski Mask the Slump God. Features from Destroy Lonely and Rico Nasty surfaced on the 2023 album Lvl5 P1, whose sequel Lvl5 P2 arrived in 2024.
