Biography
The year 2001 saw Eryn Non Dae come together in Toulouse, France. Loss of the original singer created an early setback, yet an exhaustive search eventually produced a replacement, allowing the definitive lineup of Franck Quintin (guitar/vocals), Yann Servanin (guitar), Mickael Andre (bass), Julien Rufie (drums), and Mathieu Nogues (vocals) to lock in during 2004. The band’s style fuses the heaviness of doom with the spastic fury of metalcore, recalling the work of Coalesce and Converge. Their first recording, the 2005 EP The Never Ending Whirl of Confusion, preceded extensive touring alongside Gojira, Pelican, and High on Fire; after those road dates the group turned inward to capture its debut full-length. Hydra Lernaia appeared on Metal Blade in 2009. Subsequent relocation to the French independent label M&O Music brought 2012’s Meliora, while 2018 yielded the punishing and atmospheric Abandon of the Self on Debemur Morti and Thrill Jockey.
