A tenacious East Coast outfit, Extinction A.D. anchors its approach in several distinct eras of heavy metal. This Long Island quartet blends vintage Bay Area thrash and New York hardcore with present-day extreme metal, forging a brutal, no-compromise sound built to ignite mosh pits and trigger whiplash.

Established in 2013 and steered by founding members Rick Jimenez (vocals/guitar) and Thomas Wood (bass), the band first issued the EP Plague Prophecy, then delivered its initial full-length album, Faithkiller, in 2015. Three years afterward came Decimation Treaty, which, like the prior effort, unleashed a crushing sonic assault recalling seminal acts such as Machine Head, Pantera, Testament, Suicidal Tendencies, Sepultura, and Slayer. In 2020 Extinction A.D. released the covers EP It's About Time We Had a Change. The 2021 EP Chaos, Collusion, Carnage & Propaganda signaled the group’s first release on Unique Leader Records, while the sociopolitical-minded full-length Culture of Violence followed in 2022. The Ruthless Intent EP surfaced in early 2024, and that August the band unveiled its fourth long-player, To the Detested, with Jimenez drawing on his Puerto Rican heritage for a set of intensely personal songs.
