Family Force 5

Formed in 2004 just outside Atlanta, Georgia, the group now called Family Force 5 had previously performed under the name the Phamily. Soloman Olds, performing as Soul Glow Activatur, joined his twin brothers Jacob (Crouton) and Joshua (Fatty) along with Nathan Currin (Nadaddy) and Derek Mount (Chap Stique) to complete the lineup. Original guitarist Brad Allen, billed as 20 Cent, eventually left to join the Georgia-based acts Everyday Sunday and the Trust. Maverick Records took interest in their crunk-rock style, leading to the 2006 release of their debut album Business Up Front/Party in the Back. Scattered projects filled 2007 before the band returned in 2008 with Dance or Die, an album preceded by an EP of the same title. The record brought mainstream visibility after debuting at number 30 on the Billboard charts, even as the group sustained its Christian audience success by collecting several Rock on Request Awards. A remix version of Dance or Die appeared alongside the holiday project Family Force 5's Christmas Pageant in 2009. Work then began on the third album, III, which arrived in fall 2011. In 2013 the band issued The Third, a collection that drew prime tracks from III while adding new material including the singles Cray Button and Zombie. Time Stands Still, the fourth full-length and first release on Word Entertainment, followed in 2014. Subsequent lineup shifts led the group to adopt the shorter name FF5, whose debut single Fire on the Highway surfaced in 2018.
