Rapture Ruckus, a New Zealand group anchored by vocalist Brad Dring with musicians Mike Aitofi and Josh Stein, started out strictly as a CCM hip-hop act before folding in additional styles during their development. Formed in 2002, they made their initial appearance at the country’s sizable Parachute Festival, a performance that reflected the band’s longstanding emphasis on live shows. In the years that followed, the trio traveled extensively, delivering concerts and leading worship services throughout the U.S., Europe, Asia, and beyond while steadily building a dedicated audience. Their first proper album, I Believe, surfaced in late 2006 and earned the 2007 New Zealand Music Award for Best Gospel Album. A live set recorded during a later return to the Parachute Festival appeared as Live at World’s End in 2008, after which the Hold On EP, highlighted by the hit single “Tonight,” arrived in 2010. The 2011 release Open Your Eyes marked their entry into the BEC Recordings roster, while the EPs Invader, Vol. 1 (2014) and Invader, Vol. 2 (2015) reflected ongoing experiments with EDM and rock.
