Biography
Royal Tailor merges pop, rock, and R&B textures with worship elements to create driving melodies that encourage listeners to move and reflect in equal measure. Vocalist Tauren Wells, guitarist DJ Cox, bassist Blake Hubbard, and drummer Jarrod Ingram first connected in the mid-2000s at Indiana Bible College in Indianapolis, Indiana, where they launched the group to affirm their Christian identity and urge fellow students toward greater involvement. Eager to serve locally, the quartet devoted a full year to mentoring youth in music and worship at the university’s Granite City, Illinois church. Not long afterward the four began touring relentlessly, logging more than 300 concerts in less than two years while issuing their self-released Royal Tailor EP in 2009. Progressive worship band Leeland helped convert that EP into a Provident Music contract, prompting a move to Nashville and the start of work on a proper debut album. The sessions produced 2011’s hopeful, bright Black & White. Lead single “Hold Me Together” raised the band’s visibility further by reaching Billboard’s Top Christian Albums and Top Independent Albums charts.
