Biography
Florent Mothe entered the world in 1981 as a French pop singer, musician, and actor whose formal musical training commenced at age seven during elementary school. Equally at home on flute, guitar, bass, piano, and synthesizer, this multi-instrumentalist earned widespread acclaim across European pop circles chiefly for the flowing elegance of his tenor voice.
In the late 1990s and early years of the new century he performed with two separate bands that, despite never entering a studio, cultivated devoted live followings throughout France and Germany. Sandwiched between those projects came his first venture into musical theater with L'Alphoméga, an experience preserved on the show's cast recording.
After the century turned, Mothe relocated to Toronto and launched a solo career performing in intimate clubs and coffee houses. Between 2010 and 2012 he issued three solo singles that registered on the charts in both France and Belgium. A MySpace presence featuring his recordings and videos eventually drew the notice of the creative team behind the successful musical Mozart, L'Opéra Rock; after an audition he was cast as Antonio Salieri.
Unwilling to confine himself to the stage, Mothe resumed solo work and delivered his first full-length album, Rock in Chair, during spring 2013, placing it inside the French Top 20 while landing just outside that threshold in Belgium.
