Biography
Griffin Oskar works as a singer, songwriter, and producer from his base in Los Angeles. Born in Portland, Oregon, he issued the track “Hostage” on his own under the project name Småland, taken from a modest village in Sweden as a quiet reference to his father’s Swedish roots. That choice later led Swedish electronic producer Danrell to reach out about remixing “Hostage.” Their resulting partnership achieved widespread attention, surpassing six million plays on SoundCloud while claiming the top spots on viral charts in both Sweden and the United States during 2016. The track’s momentum secured Oskar a recording contract with Republic Records, which issued his first EP the following February.
