Biography
Originating from Spain as a pop/rock outfit, Guaraná came together in 1996. The ensemble—singer/guitarist Juan Ramón Arnaiz, bassist Vicente Miras, drummer Paquito Cherro, percussionist Cuco Chelín, and guitarist David Navarro—drew its chief inspiration from traditional Latin rhythms, Jamaican reggae, and electric funk, marking its entry into the music scene with the album El Efecto Guaraná, overseen by producer Gonzalo Benavides. A subsequent run of shows across Madrid’s club circuit followed the release.
