Hoko

Hoko hail from New York and specialize in a vibrant strain of dance-rock that merges accessible pop writing with an experimental edge. Their first appearance came in 2020 via the project Heathen.

The band was assembled in 2020 by childhood companions Nathaniel Hoho, who handles lead vocals, and guitarist Jesse Kotansky. It emerged from earlier endeavors such as the similarly dance-rock-oriented Walking Shapes. Once that outfit dissolved, Hoho and Kotansky launched Hoko, channeling shared admiration for figures including David Bowie, the Strokes, Gorillaz, and additional inspirations. Their first complete album, Heathen, arrived in 2021 under the guidance of producers John Hill and Andrew Wells.
