Biography
Hunter Hunted came together in 2012 as a lively American indie pop outfit anchored by Michael Garner on keyboards and vocals together with Dan Chang handling bass and vocals. The Los Angeles group arose once the duo’s prior venture, Lady Danville, had run its course. Comparisons soon surfaced to Of Monsters and Men, Smallpools, and Passion Pit as the act moved swiftly to deliver its emotive, uplifting fusion of large-scale alt-pop and tuneful folk-rock to wider audiences. Early support from KCRW for the debut single “Keep Together” enabled the band to sell out its first Troubadour appearance a week ahead of the show. Festival slots at SXSW and a spot on Conan O’Brien’s program reinforced their reputation as an emerging act, paving the way for the self-titled debut EP that appeared on A&M/Octone in 2013. Their first proper studio album, Ready for You, followed in July 2015.
