Biography
HWLS came together in Perth, Australia as an electronic duo that fuses disparate styles, made up of Ta-ku and Kit Pop. Both already known for their individual work, the pair connected through a shared affinity for bass music, joined the Future Classic label in 2014, and issued the HWLS EP in understated fashion later that year. The project delivered a varied, industrial-tinged collection aimed at clubs, packaged with plain gray artwork consisting only of text and tracks labeled simply "001" through "004." As they kept testing new influences, the duo went on to deliver multiple remixes, among them versions of tracks by Hermitude, Tokimonsta, and Death Grips. EP02 surfaced in spring 2017, marked by somewhat brighter artwork and a more vivid sonic palette.
