Ivan Cornejo grew up in Riverside, California, where he emerged as a Regional Mexican singer and songwriter. Two months after turning 17, he delivered his debut album Alma Vacía through Manzana Records in August 2021. The project climbed to number two on the Regional Mexican Albums chart, while the singles “Noche de Relajo” and “Corazón Frío” both reached the Top 20. Days before his 18th birthday he unveiled the full-length Dañado, which claimed the top spot on genre rankings in its opening week. July 2024 brought his sophomore effort, Mirada.

Self-taught on guitar since age seven, Cornejo started playing with older friends at 14; their encouragement prompted him to refine both his instrumental and vocal abilities. At 15 he began uploading requinto videos to TikTok that showcased songs by artists he admired, quickly accumulating millions of views. The clips caught the eye of Andres Garcia, president and head of A&R at Houston’s Manzana Records, who first urged him to sing and later offered a deal once he recognized Cornejo’s songwriting talent.

“Noche de Relajo” surfaced in late 2020 and appeared on streaming charts. “Llamas Perdidas” arrived the following June, shortly after Cornejo’s 17th birthday. Around the same period his live-performance clips gained widespread traction on YouTube. In late July he issued the single and video for “Corazón Frío,” and in October the eight-track Alma Vacía surged to number two on the Regional Mexican Albums chart. He quickly followed with the Top Ten single “El Greñas Mentado.”

February 2022 saw the release of “Perro Abandonado,” a corrido steeped in heartbreak. Two weeks later came the duet “Triste” with Polo Gonzalez. June brought the romantic, ballad-heavy seven-song set Dañado, issued days before his 18th birthday. The album topped both the Regional Mexican Albums chart and streaming lists, entered Top Latin Albums at number four, and reached number 149 on the Billboard 200—an uncommon placement for the genre. It also marked the first number-one release for Manzana Records, elevating the label’s industry presence.

Seven months later Cornejo offered the heartfelt single “Aquí Te Espero,” which peaked at number 89 on the Hot 100. October 2023 brought “Donde Estas,” unveiled during his first U.S. tour and positioned as the lead track for his second album. Mirada arrived in July 2024 as his debut project for Interscope and Zaragoza Records, generating additional singles including “Baby Please,” which entered the Billboard Hot 100.
