Jason Champion, an American gospel vocalist who once belonged to the R&B outfit Men at Large, grew up in Cleveland, Ohio. Still a teenager, he co-founded the group alongside David Tolliver in 1992. Powered by the R&B successes “So Alone” and “Let’s Talk About It,” the duo’s self-titled debut and the 1994 follow-up One Size Fits All both reached the Billboard 200, their titles nodding to the singers’ robust builds. Two further releases followed—Love Struggle and Progress in 1999 and Back on Top in 2007—before Champion departed to launch a solo career in gospel.

He quickly joined EMI CMG, which issued his first long-player, Reflections, during spring 2008. That debut entered the Billboard Top Gospel Albums chart later that summer, while the track “Always” climbed to number two on the gospel songs tally before year’s end. In 2009 Reflections earned a Grammy nomination for Best Contemporary R&B Gospel Album.

Label upheaval pushed his next project into limbo, prompting Champion to align with Warryn Campbell’s My Block Records in 2013 in anticipation of fresh recordings.
