Biography
Argentinean singer, songwriter, and producer Juan Carlos Baglietto entered the world in 1956. His professional path began during the early 1970s through involvement with groups including Via Veneto and Confidencias. Baglietto assembled the ensemble Irreal during 1977, performing alongside keyboardist Juan Chiavelli, bassist Sergio Sainz, drummer Daniel Wirtz, percussionist Piraña Fegúndez, and guitarist Alberto Corradini. The lineup disbanded in 1979 after existing for two years. The subsequent year, Baglietto assembled another ensemble featuring vocalist Silvina Garre, keyboardist Fito Paez, percussionist Zappo Aguilera, guitarist Rubén Goldin, bassist Sergio Sainz, and drummer Marco Pussineria, issuing the 1982 albums Tiempos Difíciles and Actuar Para Vivir. Paez and Garre departed the configuration one year afterward. Baglietto joined Nito Mestre and Oveja Negra for the 1984 festival ¿Por Qué Cantamos?. During 1986 he released the covers collection Acné to honor songs that had shaped his earlier development. Two years later the vocalist journeyed to the former U.S.S.R. as Argentina’s representative at an international gathering that welcomed ensembles from numerous countries. Baglietto collaborated with Lito Vitale in 1991 on Postales de Este Lado del Mundo, interpreting classic Argentinean compositions. In 1998 he marked fifteen years of activity by staging a concert at Buenos Aires’ Opera theatre alongside León Gieco, Fito Paez, and Alejandro Lerner.
