Born on September 21, 1956, Argentinean rock singer Celeste Carballo launched her initial group, Alter Ego, upon turning nineteen. Her debut album, Me Vuelvo Cada Día Más Loca, appeared in 1982, with the follow-up Mi Voz Renacerá arriving the next year and receiving its live presentation at Buenos Aires’ Obras Sanitarias. Following the 1985 release of Celeste y la Generación, Carballo began performing alongside Sandra Mihanovic, and the pair issued the joint recordings Somos Mucho Mas Qe Dos and Mujer Contra Mujer. As her audience expanded, she gained recognition as an opening performer for established international acts including Santana and Bob Dylan. Chocolate Inglés came out in August 1991 and featured a widely praised interpretation of Carlos Gardel’s “El Día Que Me Quieras.” In 1995 Carballo issued the Janis Joplin-inspired Live at the Roxy, and two years afterward she took an acting part in the television series Poliladron. Tercer Infinito surfaced at the close of 1998. Carballo joined Miami’s First Argentinean Festival in May 1999 and subsequently performed across the U.S. West Coast and Mexico.
