Biography
Argentinean pop/rock singer Fabiana Cantilo entered the world on March 3, 1959. Her professional start came through stage work with the theatre company Bay-Biscuits. As her musical interests deepened, she began providing support for various acts on the scene. Pop band los Twist offered her the role of lead vocalist. In 1983 Charly García brought her into his group as a backing singer. Two years afterward, after sharing stages with Fito Paez, she issued her debut solo album Detectives. By 1988 she had assembled her own ensemble, los Perros Calientes, and delivered a record that year. In July 1990 Cantilo appeared at the Mi Buenos Aires Rock festival and subsequently served as opening act for Roxette during the Swedish band’s South American dates. Algo Mejor arrived in 1993, featuring contributions from Andrés Calamaro and Fito Paez. A more introspective project, Golpes al Vacío, followed in 1994 and preceded the 1995 release Sol en 5 as well as 1998’s ¿De Qué Se Rien?
