Country singer/songwriter Kyle Coulahan balances command of classic heartland and heartache material in tracks like “Fell in Love Again,” “Country as Hell,” and “Careful What You Pray For” with forays into political commentary, most recently via the 2024 single “Still Proud to Be an American.”

Born in Perdido Key, Florida, Coulahan nurtured an early passion for songwriting and professional ambitions in the field while also excelling as a high-school football standout. That dual talent secured him a full athletic scholarship to Auburn University in Alabama. There he crossed paths with country legend Chips Moman, whose songwriting and production credits encompass Elvis Presley, Aretha Franklin, B.J. Thomas, and the Highwaymen from his tenure at Nashville’s American Sound Studio. Moman became a mentor; after graduation Coulahan relocated to Nashville to pursue opportunities on Music Row.

During his apprenticeship as a staff songwriter, Coulahan also began releasing his own recordings. A series of singles and EPs, among them 2021’s Pictures of Us, preceded his breakthrough in 2022 with the heartfelt ballad “Fell in Love Again” and the redneck-pride anthem “Country as Hell,” the latter achieving viral spread on social platforms through its feature with Southern comedian Carlos Kane. Following a string of 2024 drinking songs such as “Bartender Therapy” and “Daddy Drank a Lot,” Coulahan entered the political arena with the lyrically conservative “Still Proud to Be an American,” issued on the Fourth of July. The track climbed to the Top 40 of Billboard’s digital songs chart on a surge of downloads in the month preceding the presidential election; in the same period Coulahan further signaled his stance with the live talking-country number “Jesus and Trump.”
