Formed during 2000 in Madrid, Spain, the group La Quinta Estación first gained traction across Latin America, with Mexico serving as the primary launchpad. Their 2004 sophomore release, Flores de Alquiler, generated multiple chart successes and propelled the rock en español trio toward rapid global recognition. Vocalist Natalia Jiménez, guitarist Ángel Reyero, and bassist Pablo Domínguez make up the lineup, also known as La 5ª Estación, a name meaning “The 5th Season.” After completing their debut effort, Primera Toma, in 2002, the band relocated from Madrid to Mexico. That initial album met with limited response, prompting a focused push into Latin pop through soundtrack placements for the television series Clase 406 and the film Dame Tu Cuerpo, plus a contribution to the tribute project Tributo a los Hombres G. Their earlier track “Dónde Irán,” featured on both Primera Toma and the Clase 406 soundtrack, drew wide notice as a main theme for the popular Mexican telenovela.

This exposure paved the way for Flores de Alquiler, a breakthrough that delivered four major singles: “El Sol No Regresa,” “Daría,” “Algo Más,” and “Niña.” The double-platinum album maintained strong sales through 2005 and into 2006, during which the band issued the live acoustic set Acustico, a CD/DVD capturing unplugged renditions of the same material. Acustico sustained audience interest until the arrival of El Mundo Se Equivoca later in 2006. Certified gold in the United States, platinum in Mexico, and double platinum in Spain, the record solidified La 5ª Estación’s standing as Latin pop headliners and earned them a Latin Grammy Award. In 2008 they captured their concert energy on the CD/DVD Directo Desde Madrid. The follow-up studio album, Sin Frenos, arrived in March 2009 and received the Grammy for Best Latin Pop Album in 2010. At the close of 2010 the members declared an indefinite break to pursue separate endeavors, and in 2012 the hits collection Recuerdame Con Cartasy y Algo Mas . . . Los Exitos appeared.
