Lauren Weintraub forged a crisp, adaptable fusion of country and pop that merged electronic luster and pulsing rhythms with solid compositional craft. Early-2020s singles displayed this versatile approach as she playfully subverted gender expectations, beginning with the 2021 tracks “She’s Mine” and “Like a Boy.” She broadened her palette further through the lustrous, measured 2022 releases “Missing You”—which gained substantial online traction after going viral—and “Not Like I’m in Love with You.”

Born in Boston, Massachusetts, Weintraub developed an early passion for musical theater, taking the lead role of Annie in three distinct stagings of the celebrated Broadway musical; during adolescence she shifted focus toward pop and country. While still in high school she picked up guitar and began composing, then matriculated at Belmont University’s Curb College of Entertainment in Nashville upon graduating in 2017. In early 2018 she tried out for the thirteenth season of America’s Got Talent without advancing, yet she quickly made headway in Music City by entering local songwriting contests. That year she claimed first place in The Recording Academy’s Grammy U competition with “Careful Now,” while “If You Were Gonna Leave Anyway” received recognition in an NPR Tiny Desk contest that Jason Isbell helped judge.

Weintraub became the inaugural signee to All BC Music in 2019, the publishing partnership formed by Brandy Clark and Big Machine Music. Two years later she uploaded “She’s Mine” to TikTok, where it spread rapidly and opened doors for the follow-up singles “Me Over You,” “Makeup Is Expensive,” and “Like a Boy.”

“Missing You” emerged as her second major TikTok phenomenon in 2022, securing a nomination for iHeart Radio Music TikTok Songwriter of the Year and prompting Virgin Music to ink a recording contract with her. “Not Like I’m in Love with You” served as her debut release under that agreement and performed strongly on streaming platforms.
