Linus

Formed in London during 1989 by American sisters Jennifer, who handles bass, guitar and vocals, and Tammy Denitto on vocals, Linus originally included Peter on drums and Andy Roberts on guitar; the group has since settled in the UK. Live shows began drawing notice in 1992, with their debut EP on Bone Records generating additional curiosity. Spanning wiry, cutting pop and restrained, reflective laments, the material gained stronger backing the next year, when the single ‘Super Golgotha Crucifixion Scene’ and album Yougli attracted fresh listeners. BBC Radio One’s Evening Session named the single Single Of The Week, its title reflecting the band’s intriguing yet often obscure lyrics. Steve Hughes joined on drums before a UK tour supporting the album. Elemental Records issued two EPs in 1995, Supercool and Better Genes.
