Emerging from Navojoa, Sonora, Mexico, the norteño ensemble Los Dareyes de la Sierra built its following through repeated releases on the Disa label, among them the hit single “Hasta el Día de Hoy.” First assembled in 1997 under another name and with different members, the group is fronted by vocalist and accordionist José Darey Castro, who works with Miguel Enrique Razcón and Juan Vázquez. Setting aside its numerous greatest-hits compilations, the catalog comprises El Águila Real (2005), Cigarro de Hoja (2005), Como Tú los Querías Oír en Vivo (2005), La Dueña de Mi Vida (2005), Directo (2006), En la Mira (2007), and Con Banda (2008). Standout tracks include “Quisiera Ser una Lagrima,” “El Jabalí,” and “El Águila Real” from El Águila Real; “El Novillo Despuntado,” “El Fin de Nuestro Amor,” and “El Perdedor” from Cigarro de Hoja; “Dueña de Mi Vida,” “La Más Bonita de Todos,” and “Arrincónamela” from La Dueña de Mi Vida; “Tu Perfume,” “Vida Mafiosa,” and “El Valiente” from Directo; and “Hasta el Día de Hoy” from Con Banda.
