Born on March 23, 1983, in Culiacan, Sinaloa, Carlos Fidel Rueda grew up with an accordion that his father always kept accessible at home. He soon devoted his free hours to the instrument, and as his playing advanced he began adding his voice. Local parties and events quickly began extending invitations for performances. Seeking greater opportunities to record and appear onstage, Rueda assembled the group Los Buitres de Culiacan. After several years of building experience, the band issued its debut album, Que Role la Bolsita, on the Discos Sol label. Although the project earned solid notice, the follow-up Solo Para Mi proved decisive in securing bookings across the region. Recognition continued to grow with the 2005 release Limonadas Verdes on Herca Music, which cemented the group’s standing among listeners. In 2006, dissatisfied with label interference and his restricted influence over repertoire and creative choices, Rueda left the band to pursue a solo career. His first solo album, Paz en Este Amor, appeared in 2007 on Machete Music, an imprint of Universal; the project featured an experimental arrangement built around drums, a handful of horns, and accordion, and it quickly became a regional hit while reaching the Billboard Regional Mexican Airplay and Hot Latin Tracks charts.
