Biography
Alex Konschuh, a visual artist and musician raised in Olympia, Washington, leads the New York-based project Malice K, whose output fuses pointed, blues-tinged garage pop and rock with clear echoes of John Lennon. Two early EPs paved the way for a signing to Jagjaguwar, after which the act issued its first album, AVANTI, in 2024.
Konschuh initially entered the music landscape in Los Angeles through the DeathProof Inc. collective, which handled the 2020 release of Malice K’s opening EP, Harm or Heck. That recording highlighted a palette steeped in 1960s and 1970s psychedelia alongside garage textures. He later self-issued the follow-up EP, Clean Up on Aisle Heaven, in 2022.
Once based in New York, he earned notice for his disquieting illustrations on the art circuit and for his explosive live performances on the music stages. AVANTI, spanning ferocious hard-rock passages and lyrical acoustic balladry, surfaced on Jagjaguwar in August 2024.
