Biography
Danish comedian and songwriter Martin Brygmann achieved widespread recognition across his native country near the turn of the millennium. He first came into the world on January 25, 1963, in Kølvrå, Denmark, and spent the 1990s building an acting career through appearances in both cinema and television productions. His songwriting found its greatest success in satirical material, often developed alongside his on-screen characters. Together with Peter Frödin and Hella Joof he formed the pop trio Det Brune Punktum, which issued the albums Far Brugte Ikke Noget in 2002 and Mor -- Skyld Med Skyld Pa in 2004; the earlier release proved a major commercial hit by reaching number two on the Danish albums chart. He also belonged to the quartet Lex & Klatten, completed by Frödin, Joof, and Paprika Steen, and that group delivered a self-titled album in 2003. Sony Music assembled his strongest compositions—interpreted by Brygmann himself as well as Frödin, Lisa Nilsson, Wayne Hernandez, Tina Dickow, and Søs Fenger—into the 2009 collection Brygmann's Bedste Sange, which climbed into the Top Five on the Danish albums chart.
