Biography
Merwan Rim stands among those performers who moved from theatrical stages to pop success, methodically climbing the ranks of French musical theater prior to establishing his own recording career. Born Mourad Merwan Rim in Sarcelles in 1977, he abandoned his communication studies at L'Université Paris, chose instead to train at a performing arts school, and secured his debut part in 2001 as Ramses in Les Dix Commandements. After portraying François, Duke of Beaufort in Le Roi Soleil during 2006, he achieved his major breakthrough three years afterward by taking on the dual roles of L'Aubergiste and the Clown Demoniaque in the acclaimed production Mozart: l'Opera Rock. Already having supplied vocals for two songs on Canadian vocalist Marilou's self-titled sophomore album, he issued his debut solo effort, L'Échappée, in 2012.
