Mike Jay

Contemporary R&B songwriter, producer, and recording artist Mike Jay, whose birth name is Miguel Jiminez and who has also recorded under the names Michael Jiminez, Mike J, and Rico Law, entered the world in Detroit, Michigan. He honed his abilities during childhood at Perfecting Church under the guidance of pastor Marvin Winans. When he reached the age of eight, his family relocated to Atlanta, Georgia. His earliest songwriting and production contributions arrived while he was still a teenager, with the first appearing in 2009 on K. Michelle’s “Self Made,” Fabolous’ “Salute,” and R. Kelly’s “Bangin’ the Headboard.” In 2012 he supplied material for Chris Brown’s high-gloss dance-pop anthem “Turn Up the Music,” which rose to number ten on the Billboard Hot 100. That same year he collaborated with Mario Winans—Marvin Winans’ stepson—on Raffaela’s “Going Crazy.” The next year brought further placements on Trevor Jackson’s “We Grown,” Marcus Canty’s “Stay in Love,” Ciara’s “One Night with You,” and TGT’s “Our House.” After signing with Virgin, he issued the four-track EP The Mike Jay EP in 2014; the track “For a Week” featured YG and Too $hort.
