Biography
Oh, Hush! serves as the professional alias for the Los Angeles-based recording artist and producer Chris Sernel. After debuting under that name in 2007, Sernel deliberately avoided publicity by steering clear of press coverage, interviews, concerts, and even images, allowing his colorful and energetic productions to stand on their own. His output as a performer blends lighthearted alt-pop with lively electronic rhythms, appearing across many singles, multiple EPs, and the 2008 full-length release The Yellow Album. Holiday material holds special appeal for him, prompting three separate Christmas EPs that reinterpret both seasonal standards and pop numbers such as "Christmas Vacation," each rendered in an upbeat pop-punk manner. In his roles as producer and songwriter, Oh, Hush! has collaborated with an array of established acts ranging from CCM outfits like Group 1 Crew to pop figures including Weezer and Cee Lo Green, the latter partnership securing Sernel a Grammy nomination for the 2010 track "What Part of Forever." Beyond licensing his material for numerous films, television programs, and commercials, he also took on original film scoring duties in 2017, contributing songs to the soundtracks of The Lego Batman Movie and The Lego Ninjago Movie.
