Patrick Droney emerged nationally while still in his early teens as a soulful pop singer and songwriter whose guitar work evoked John Mayer. Recognition from the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation opened that door, after which he issued his debut EP, The Other Side, at sixteen. He sharpened his live skills in New York clubs during his time at NYU before relocating to Los Angeles, where he entered music publishing and became a Fender Instruments representative. A later shift to Nashville secured a Kobalt label deal and yielded his first widely available single, the 2018 track “Stand and Deliver.” Warner Music then signed him, releasing his debut full-length, State of the Heart, in 2021. With his follow-up, Subtitles for Feelings, issued in 2023, Droney shifted toward a more restrained sound.

Born in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, and raised in Linwood, New Jersey, Droney started playing guitar at six and quickly developed into a prodigy. At thirteen he received the New Generation Award from the Robert Johnson Blues Foundation. Still in his early teens, he shared bills with blues and soul legends including B.B. King and James Brown. By sixteen he collaborated with Breaking Benjamin frontman Benjamin Burnley on his first EP. Issued in 2006, The Other Side blended melodic alt-rock with soulful bluesy pop.

After studying at NYU’s Clive Davis School of Recorded Music, Droney moved to Los Angeles to focus on songwriting. There he secured a publishing agreement, placed songs on television, and served as a Fender Instruments brand ambassador. Sessions in 2016 with producer Sean Hurley, whose credits include Annie Lennox and John Mayer, produced the single “Game of Love.” Droney subsequently settled in Nashville and signed with Kobalt Music Services. His initial Kobalt release, “Stand and Deliver,” arrived in 2018 and was co-written with Better Than Ezra’s Kevin Griffin. Warner Music signed him by 2020; after several singles he released the album State of the Heart in 2021.

In the following year he issued tracks such as the singles “Wrecking Ball” and “All Loved Out.” The rollout for his next project, Subtitles for Feelings, began with the 2023 single “Caroline.”
