Riovaz, whose name playfully echoes "Savior," emerged from New Jersey as a songwriter and producer who weaves together threads of pop, R&B, rap, and dance into his own electronic-tinged pop sound. Mainstream attention arrived for him in 2020 through the moody, club-focused single "Prom Night," which earned a contract with Darkroom/Geffen. He kept sharpening his approach across later tracks, among them the emotionally charged "I Feel Fantastic" in 2021, the shadowy and ethereal "You're a Parasite" in 2022, and the upbeat "Hypnotized" from 2023 that featured skaiwater and landed on the EP Disturb the Norm.

Born and raised in Jersey City, Riovaz absorbed music from an early age in a household where his parents played Argentinian alternative rock alongside Michael Jackson. At 13 he started producing his own material in Garageband, and five years later his breakout single "Prom Night" surged online to reach millions of streams. After joining Darkroom/Geffen, home to Billie Eilish, Olivia Rodrigo, and Yungblud, he released further streaming successes such as "You're a Parasite" and "Tell Me All Your Fears," merging drum'n'bass, lilting R&B-infused pop, post-punk, and house while addressing the varied strains of teenage life. His 2023 EP Disturb the Norm sustained that connection, supplying sincere dance anthems edged with familiar youthful tension.
