Biography
Los Angeles duo RKCB craft bass-heavy R&B tracks centered on relationships and romantic uncertainty. Their sound, which crosses indie electronic, R&B, and pop boundaries, has landed on numerous playlists and thereby broadened their reach. Songs including 2016’s “Elevated” and 2017’s “Naive” have each accumulated tens of millions of streams.
Riley Knapp and Casey Barth first connected while studying at USC, where they soon placed music above academics. Their debut EP, Short Films, surfaced in 2015 and included the lead single “Ignite,” quickly gaining traction across streaming services. That same year they appeared on EDM producer Candyland’s single “Speechless,” which climbed to number 46 on Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart. The next year they joined Demo Taped—who had already remixed “Ignite”—for “Open Arms” and teamed with Opia on “Always.” In December they issued their second EP, In Contrast, led by “Elevated.” During 2017 the singles “Naive” and “Bloom” arrived alongside the collaboration-heavy EP RKCB-Sides, while additional guest spots included Louis Futon’s “Surreal” and Ariana & the Rose’s “Love You Lately.” A further EP, Shores, followed in 2019.
