Biography
Roxx came together in Welland, Ontario back in 1984, drawing from the most powerful elements of heavy metal legends KISS and Metallica to craft a distinctive hybrid hard rock style. After years of relentless performances across Southern Ontario, the band issued their first independent album, Breaking New Ground, in 1990. In 1995 the three members established Meehan Music as their personal label and put out Alternative Union, which featured tracks from eleven other local unsigned groups in addition to their own material. Having undergone several lineup shifts, the musicians put out Night of the Living Dead as Redrum before finally committing to the studio for Deranged in 1999. At that point Ken Edie handled lead guitar duties while Dean Meehan took care of vocals and bass, with Wayne Meehan behind the drums, leaving Roxx poised to break through and secure a contract with a major label.
