Biography
St. Louis native Ryan Trey, active as a singer, songwriter, and rapper, blends silky R&B lines with brooding trap beats in his output. Early online releases during his high-school years drew initial notice, after which he joined Bryson Tiller on the 2019 single “Nowhere to Run” and continued issuing standalone tracks plus the 2021 EP A 64 East Saga. His second full-length effort, Streets Say You Miss Me, arrived via Interscope late in 2023.
Born in St. Louis in 1999, Trey began uploading material while still a student and followed with his first mixtape, EIGHT24, in 2017. That eight-track collection featured the cut “Real,” which introduced him to listeners across the country. The next year brought his debut album, August; in 2019 the Bryson Tiller collaboration “Nowhere to Run” generated tens of millions of streams and broadened his reach considerably. Over the subsequent period he put out further independent singles, among them 2020’s “Rollin” and 2021’s “It’s About a Girl,” most of which were gathered with additional songs on the 2021 EP 64 East Saga, marking his initial Interscope release. Following a comparatively subdued 2022, he returned with “Ain’t Even Friends,” a duet featuring Mariah the Scientist, and the track “30 Floors Up,” both positioned as lead-up material for the 2023 sophomore album Streets Say You Miss Me.
