Spanish hitmaker Saiko channeled his vivid, persistent singing into multiple chart-topping successes throughout the first half of the 2020s, gaining widespread attention via the 2023 single “Supernova.” Additional number one placements followed with “Polaris (Remix)” and the Quevedo-assisted “Buenas,” setting the stage for his debut album SAKURA to enter at the top of the Spanish rankings.

Born Miguel Cantos Gómez in Armilla, Granada, the Spanish vocalist and rapper first appeared on the scene at age 14 as half of the rap duo Wido y Saiko alongside his brother Wido. After the pair disbanded in 2019, Saiko moved forward alone, issuing his opening solo track, the dancefloor-oriented reggaeton cut “Te Quiero Fuera,” in 2020. Blending luminous melodies with sharp rhymes, his initial releases drew from reggaeton on “Confía,” trap on “Ferrari,” and Afrobeats on “Tropically,” as he refined a distinctive vocal approach. A series of singles that included the Quevedo pairings “Jordan 1” and “Turbulencias” preceded his breakthrough with “Polaris,” a 2022 collaboration with Came Beats that featured on his first EP, 1371 KM.

Saiko surged into mainstream visibility in early 2023 through a streak of dominant hits. His initial chart entry came with “Sikora,” which reached number 42 in Spain during February; weeks afterward “Las Bratz (Remix)” climbed to number 30, while “Polaris” gradually advanced to number 31. The explosive reggaeton track “Supernova” soon delivered his first number one and earned a platinum certification at home, launching him to prominence. That June, the star-studded “Polaris (Remix)” featuring Feid, Quevedo, and Mora supplied a second chart-topper, followed by third and fourth leaders in the Quevedo duet “Buenas” and the Mora collaboration “Reina.” His debut EP, Saliendo del Planeta, appeared that December.

Early 2024 brought a fifth number one via his feature on Gonzy’s “X’CLUSIVO (Remix),” after which Saiko previewed his first full-length project with the Omar Montes collaboration “Yo Lo Soné,” which opened at number three. The cosmic-titled SAKURA spanned his accustomed styles and guest list for an exuberant opening statement, mixing prior hits with fresh recordings alongside J Balvin, Sky Rompiendo, and Bryant Myers before debuting at number one on the Spanish album chart. The JC Reyes and Dei V track “Badgyal” quickly stood out as the project’s signature success, securing Saiko a sixth number one just days after release.
